The Six Old Powers
Before the towns there were six Old Powers, in three opposed pairs: Maelra the Hearth-Mother (home and mending) against Corvane the Gallows-Crow (battle and endings); Siolan the Seed-Sower (growth and harvest) against Teimhra the Mist-Veiled (secrets, night and passage); and Brennoch the Stormhorn (sky and wrath) against Lirwen of the Deep Tide (sea, memory and patience).
You may follow one, from level 3. Stand at a shrine and pledge yourself. Faith is a matter of identity, ceremony and service. It never makes you stronger in a fight: no damage, healing, speed or XP comes from it.
Press F to open the Faith window, which shows your Power, your Devotion rank, your Favor, your titles and the rites you have taken part in. You can renounce your Power, but you must wait a while before pledging again, and a short while before you can turn to their opposite.

Devotion, Favor and prayer
Devotion is how deeply you follow your Power. It is never spent. Ranks are Seeker, Votary (100), Keeper (400), Hierarch (1200) and Exalted (3000), and each gives a title you may wear. You can choose which earned title to show.
You earn Devotion at a shrine by praying (once every 20 minutes), by giving an offering of gold or goods, by taking part in a rite, and by deeds your Power favours. Maelra likes healing others, Corvane likes defeating strong foes, Siolan likes gathering, Teimhra likes fighting without being hit, Brennoch likes dealing damage and Lirwen likes spending mana.
Favor is a second, renewable store, up to 200. Prayer and rites add to it, and it never fades. A shrine can spend 25 Favor to cleanse one Scar. Your name plate shows the symbol of your Power, and each Power has its own colour.

Shrines, rites and invocations
Each Power has shrines in the world. Click one to pledge, pray, make offerings, or start or join a rite. You must stand close to it.
A rite is a shared ceremony. A Hierarch or Exalted follower begins one at a shrine of their Power, and nearby players can join for one minute; the leader must stay. Everyone who completes it gains Devotion and Favor and one line in their faith history, and a leader with three or more others gains extra. Rites are free. A shrine needs a few minutes of quiet between rites.
From the rank of Keeper you may offer an invocation of your Power, which is a ceremony of light and colour with no effect on a fight. Press 0 to do it. It can be repeated after 45 seconds.
