Hallowmyr is in playtest. Use a password you don't use anywhere else.

First steps
- Read the notice board by the Village Green. It points you to your first jobs.
- People with a gold ! over their heads have work for you. The quest tracker under the minimap shows what's next.
- The Heatherway lies down Greenhollow's east road. Its barrow hounds are your first real fight.
- Find company with the Group Finder. A friend nearby can revive you if you go down.
Choosing a class
You start as a Wayfarer. From level 5, visit a trainer in Greenhollow to try a provisional class: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest or Monk. It's free, and you can set it aside at any time.
At level 20 you dedicate to a class for life, or remain a Wayfarer for good. Abilities are free to learn. Put actives on your hotbars (up to three bars of six) and passives in your four passive slots, and reset your attribute points for free whenever you are out of combat. More in Classes & abilities.
Faith
From level 3 you can pledge to one of the six Old Powers at its shrine. Two stand in Greenhollow's Circle of Offerings; the other four are out on the Heatherway. Pray every 20 minutes, leave offerings and do your Power's favoured deed to raise your rank. Faith brings titles, auras and Favor. It never changes combat. More in Faith.
Getting around
Click the Hearth brazier by any tavern door to make it your Hearth; press H to go back there from nearly anywhere, out of combat. Once you own a home, Shift+H (Return Home) takes you inside it. Both are a ten-second cast that stops if you move or are hurt.
Waystones, carriages and ferries link the lands. From level 20 you can buy a pony from Tomás the Ostler by Greenhollow's coach stop: equip it in your Satchel's Mount slot and press Z to ride. More in Travel.
If you fall
When your health runs out you fall, and you have a minute. Any nearby player can stand close and click you to revive you, at a quarter of your health and with no Scar.
If no one does, or you press Release, it is a True Death: you wake at the nearest sanctuary of the land you fell in, with a Scar, a little wear on your gear, and some of your current XP held back as Echo, which you earn back as you play. A Scar fades after a real-world day without a death. You never lose a level, gold or items. More in When you fall.
